Meet Marcia
I've been a community member and business owner in Pismo Beach for over 25 years and I'm currently a City Council member seeking my 3rd term.
My baseline goal was and is to maintain a fiscally sound and responsive city government, and to preserve the positive things we've accomplished. To do this, I have worked collaboratively with other council members to create policies that protect our quality of life and improve our economic and environmental well being.
During my time on the council we've rebuilt the Pier, renovated the Pier Plaza, reconstructed the Bello St. Bridge, created the Shell Beach Design Guidelines, Shell Beach Streetscape, Bluff stabilization, updating parks with the latest being Palisades Park and Chumash Park and continuing the paving of our city streets and neighborhoods.
My priorities are to finish our General Plan and Local Coastal Plan update that reflects our community vision which will be a road map for future city councils. Securing water for future generations by reimagining Central Coast Blue. Implementing the recommendations made by our most recent Traffic Circulation Study to aid in downtown circulation, ensuring funding to maintain our streets, storm drains and continued bluff protection, completing the James Way Beautification Plan and the Fire Safety Center.
The city will be faced with a decision as to whether we want to take over a portion of Hwy 1 which runs through our downtown to Shell Beach. This is an important decision as it will allow the city to make it's own decision as to circulation in our downtown.
I support Measure F14, the city's sales tax measure. This Measure raises the current sales tax by .5% and currently generates 2 million annually at 7.75%. If passed, this measure will bring the city's sales tax to 8.25% which is under San Luis Obispo's sales tax of 8.75% and will generate 4 million annually.
